Lady Mayor of Shrewsbury Beverley Baker visits the YSS stand at Volunteer’s Week event in Shrewsbury Square

Lady Mayor of Shrewsbury, Beverley Baker, visited the YSS stand, at the National Volunteer’s Week 2014 event in Shrewsbury Square, organised by Shropshire Rural Community Council Shropshire. She was very interested in the YSS Shropshire Early Help EnHance project.

The aim of the event was to promote volunteering in Shropshire as part of Volunteers Week and for us, to network with other agencies, be visible as part of the voluntary sector in Shropshire and to try to recruit some more volunteers.

Volunteers are an important part of the work that YSS undertakes in Shropshire, and It can make a huge difference to our clients if they know someone is motivated and cares enough to offer their time for free. YSS looks to recruit a diverse group of male and female volunteers aged 18+ who come from all kinds of backgrounds, cultures and interests with the common bond of being motivated to work with young people, adults and families who are vulnerable, have complex needs and face difficult life challenges.

  • YSS is actively looking to recruit volunteer parent mentors and volunteer young person mentors. For further information on these opportunities, please contact Alison Kinrade, Senior Volunteer coordinator on 07791 876636 or
