Young Carers Participation Focus group enjoy a well deserved treat
after their  hard work  with the  very successful conference

12 Young Carers    enjoyed  a relaxing and fun meal out at Nandos, to celebrate their successful conference held last month, and as a thank you for all their work  in preparing for the event. This focus group  are  part of the Participation Project (funded  by Children in Need), which  has been establishing a Young Carers Participation group with regular   monthly group meetings led by a skilled Participation worker and supported by   volunteers. The focus is on empowering young carers and giving them a   platform to raise the awareness and issues of young carers in Worcestershire   as well as producing regular newsletters and website/social media updates to   reflect their thoughts and views and give them a collective voice.

The conference  had been made possible  by funding from Children in Need and Worcestershire Safeguarding Children Board.

The conference was for  delegates of school nurses, teachers, representatives from Worcestershire Safeguarding Children Board and Children in Need, Worcester County Council Early Help, Action for Children and many other organisations working with children, young people and families in Worcestershire. They  were most moved (in some cases shocked and in tears)  from the stories as  the young people shared their caring journeys. The film they had made with ITV Fixers, interviews for BBC Hereford and Worcester, and sound bites from the younger Young Carers were all included in this young person centred conference. Read more about this amazing  young carers conference.
