A Mood master taster session

YSS marked Mental Health Awareness Week 11th to 15th May 2015 with several events:

  • Two taster sessions for Mood Master were run for visiting professionals from voluntary sector and statutory sector organisations such as St Pauls Hostel, CAMHS and even our own Trustees. In addition our guests found out more about the work of the Bradley Mental Health project.
Visitors attending the “drop in day” included Bill Longmore and Barrie Longmore (West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner and deputy) and Mandi Bishop, Community Development Officer, Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust who commented:
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to find out more about how YSS are engaging with people within criminal justice with mental health. I feel it is a great shame that yet again, funding will be an issue.”
Of the taster Mood master session she added: “ I can see how people would benefit from the comfortable way the course is structured – not too intrusive.”
  • YSS, in recognising the importance of mental health support for those in criminal justice and for other vulnerable groups, has now run its first accredited programme for clients: the Mental Health First Aid Lite course, held yesterday at YSS Carden Street in Worcester city centre, hopefully gave them a better understanding of some of the difficulties and issues they face. These clients were all part of the YSS Employment Support Programme.
  • This week in Shropshire the Mental Health First Aid Lite course also took place.
