Young carers with poetry slam entrants

The young carers were recently invited to judge at the Poetry Slam at Croome National Trust on 29th July by Rachel Sharpe (one of our young carers mum’s) as she works for the National Trust.  The poetry slam was part of the Summer Reading Challenge, in partnership with Worcestershire Library Service and the Reading Agency, and was contested by young people from across the Midlands. Meg, Lucy, Jodie, Connie and YSS Keyworker Vicky helped to judge the literary competition where the winner was a young lady called Ellie Courtman who was new to poetry slam. YSS Worcestershire Young Carers Keyworker Vicky Parker commented that “famed author and spoken word artist Lemn Sissay MBE was there to inspire the next generation of young poets”, adding that it was a “fantastic day” and expressing a “big thanks to Rachel Sharpe for setting helping organise this opportunity for the young carers!”
