First Mentor Strategy Workshop

discussion time“The training changed my opinions on how to approach each individual I will go on to mentor, equipping me with knowledge and different approaches on how to benefit each individual to achieve their goals, it was a vital process to better my mentoring skills! “

On Thursday 18th February 2016, Worcestershire-based volunteer mentors attended the first ‘Mentor Strategy Workshop’ at Carden Street. The training gave qualified volunteers the opportunity to learn about specific support avenues to explore in order to best help our Enhanced Support Service and Meet and Mentor client groups.  This was led by Jon Cawdron,  YSS Senior Volunteer Co-ordinator (Meet and Mentor project)  and Carole Blake, YSS Senior Volunteer Co-ordinator.

The training concluded with a look at the ‘Prevent’ Strategy and a reminder to volunteers about  the impact our volunteers have on their clients as digital champions.

9 volunteers, ranging from those who had just completed their debrief  up to those with over 10 years of mentoring experience, attended. It was fantastic to hear views, opinions and anecdotes as volunteers and staff learned about services within their area that can help our clients.
