Learning centre at Worcester Cathedral takes delivery of children’s picnic benches- specially made by YSS and its service users.

During a visit earlier in the summer by the High Sherriff of Worcestershire, Sir Nicholas Lechmere and Sue Adeney, Education Officer at Worcester Cathedral, they were able to  find out more about  the varied  range of YSS projects and  to see YSS’s offices in  Carden Street, Worcester. Sue was most impressed with the work that the Employment Support Programme service users were undertaking and enquired if YSS could make some children’s picnic benches. YSS was delighted to then be commissioned to make 6 benches. Sue said “They will be put to good use straight away in the outdoor area of the learning centre.”

The Cathedral Education Department has been running for 16 years and in that time has increased the number and range of schools and activities to well over 8000 children and students each year, who engage in curriculum based activities.

The benches were made by service users working on YSS Employment Support Programme and  Mike Goodman, who is in charge of the woodwork projects in the YSS workshops.
