YSS is set to soar to even new heights having won an award that will help with our business development and strategy. The annual Weston Charity Awards celebrate and support front-line charities across the North of England and the Midlands working in the fields of youth, welfare and community and this year we are one of just seventeen winners – chosen from more than a hundred applicants.

The award provides us with a fully-funded year working with Pilotlight – a specialist London-based organisation that provides volunteer business mentors to help charities become more effective and efficient.

YSS CEO, Lorraine Preece, is, not unsurprisingly, thrilled. ‘We’re absolutelydelighted  to be chosen as a recipient of a Weston Charity Award,  not only because it recognises what we do but also because it gives us the opportunity to work strategically with Pilotlight, an organisation that has provided invaluable help to previous winners,’ says Lorraine Preece. ‘Over the coming year we’ll have the chance to build on our existing strengths, increase our effectiveness and encourage innovation to ensure that YSS is fit for purpose for the future in being able to reach the hardest to reach and impact positively on their lives.’

The award also comes with funding of £6,500 to support us make the most of the Pilotlight experience and to cover travel expenses to meet with our business mentors in London.
