Accreditations and Quality Standards


YSS  had just completed  its 3 year Matrix assessment  in June 2015  and  we are  delighted that YSS  has retained its accreditation.  This assessment  involved service  users, volunteers, staff and partners, and took place  in Worcester, Wellington and in Shrewsbury offices. We particularly wish to thank   all the service users and volunteers  for  attending  these meetings, together  with   our staff and partners.

Matrix is a quality kitemark for organisations like YSS who provide IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance) to service users. Organisations who hold the Matrix ‘kitemark’ are assessed every third year to ensure standards remain high.

You may have heard about IAG in connection with careers advice/advisors but the IAG we provide to our service users  is much more far reaching than careers advice and is about guiding, signposting and providing information. In fact, everything we do in most of  our  projects  is about providing IAG whether this be to our service users, families, young people, our staff and  our Volunteers.

Assessor Ali Jackson’s feedback was very complimentary. ” All YSS’s strengths were still there and I have  identified even  more! I found the process of evaluating YSS  fabulous and straightforward.”

Our main strengths identified   included:

The clarity of understanding everyone involved in the organisation (staff, clients, Stakeholders) has around why they are there, what they are doing, what  the mission and  aims are.

The staff conference was seen as a big improvement and extremely beneficial, particularly to those staff who don’t work directly with clients.

Managing limited resources.

Service flexibility and delivery. Responsiveness mentioned by partners a lot.

Use of volunteers to support the service users is a big improvement. Good for clients good for staff.

Evaluations and reports have improved, especially the RAG ratings, feedback and the distance travelled. Generally all the management information systems have improved across the projects.
